We are a caring and affordable cremation and burial service. Stein & Son, cremation and burial service is owned by Yvonne Whalen, a licensed Funeral Director, who has served in the funeral industry for over 27 years.
How we're different
Yvonne is the sole owner and operator. We are not corporately owned, part of a franchise, or part of a national chain.

We offer in-home arrangements, which means we come to YOU. It may sound strange, but when you lose a loved one, the last place you really want to go to is a funeral home and sit in a room making these decisions surrounded by caskets and merchandise that you either do not need or cannot afford. We can discuss all your options and sign the necessary forms in the comfort of your own home.

Since we are a small business, we work directly with other family owned and operated businesses in our industry. Our crematory, transfer service, and even our casket and urn vendor are all family owned. We truly believe that family owned businesses can offer the care and support you truly deserve.

Meet Our Staff

Yvonne, garnered a BS in Management and went on to complete an MBA in Management and Strategy and continued to certify as a Six Sigma Black Belt Professional (SSBBP), as well as holds industry licenses for Funeral Director, Crematory Manager and Cemetery Manager.
Family is important to Yvonne. She is married and has 3 boys, her son (and daughter in law) and two nephews she helped raise as her own. She also has her fur-girl Rosie that she adores. When she's not spending time with her family and Rosie, she and her husband love to travel and have travelled extensively across the United States.
Currently, Yvonne enjoys membership in various organizations, such as, the National Notary Association, the North Sacramento Chamber of Commerce, the Auburn Chamber of Commerce, the North Sacramento Rotary Club where she is also a 2023 Board Member. Of all of her various activities, her favorite is rolling up her sleeves and helping in the community.
